Hi guys, DaVinci Resolve 10 supports OpenCL and Cuda on Mac and Windows OS and Cuda only on Linux.
The config guides are based on tests we perform and the recommendations are based on advising you how to build a reliable system that will meet the resolution and performance needs of colorists and editors.
All image processing is in 32bit floating point within the GPU so the full RGB pixel data is needed. Therefore compressed images, raw images or straight RGB pixel data is all processed at the full res and RGB 32bit float.
If you use temporal processes like NR or Optical Flow speed changes and/or use openFX plugins you need more GPU ram because there are more frames in the GPU at one time.
There are a range of AMD and Nvidia cards that work with Resolve and as we test more the config guide will be updated. The guys have some new AMD cards to review now.
Best and cheapest can only be determined once you know the system the cards will be use in, the type of processing you will perform and the resolution of the images.. and only valid on the application you are using to process those.
